Materials

A solution for every material flow.

Construction and Demolition

Construction and demolition waste consists of a complex mix of materials, which our solutions are designed to tackle.

Construction and demolition waste contains a wide spectrum of materials, including stone rubble, concrete, wood, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics and screening sand. This diversity makes it necessary to employ advanced sorting techniques for effective recycling.

Sorting techniques
Our sorting systems include a dosing bunker for controlled feeding, followed by both 3D and 2D trommel screens for initial separation by size. Shredders break up larger pieces, after which windshifters and optical separators separate fine materials. Vibrating screens can be used for further refinement of separation, while magnets and non-ferrous separators effectively isolate metals.

Proper application and composition of these components into a complete sorting line ensures maximum recovery of usable materials and minimizes the waste stream.

Commercial and Industrial

The composition of industrial waste varies considerably.

Industrial waste has a wide variation in composition, posing unique challenges in its treatment. Materials such as paper, cardboard, plastics, metals and wood make up the bulk of this waste, in addition to occasional organic material.

Sorting techniques
Our sorting lines are specifically designed to manage this diversity efficiently. The sorting lines are equipped with advanced separation equipment that can identify and separate almost any type of material. This includes robust separation systems such as trommel screens and shredders that handle larger pieces of waste, and specialised separators such as optical separators and magnets that ensure accurate extraction of valuable materials.

The flexibility of our systems allows them to adapt to different types of waste streams, with each system configured to achieve the highest possible recycling efficiency. This results not only in a reduction of waste going to landfills, but also in increased recovery of reusable materials, contributing to corporate sustainability goals.

Residual Waste

Maximum material recovery and minimum waste generation.

Residual waste consists of a complex mix of materials that often still contains valuable raw materials. By using an advanced sorting line, we can effectively separate these materials and significantly reduce the amount of residual waste going to landfill.

Fast payback
By focusing on value-added materials, we ensure a reduction in processing costs and fast payback on investments in sorting and recycling technology.

Customers who invest in our sorting solutions often see an immediate improvement. By producing less waste and recovering more materials, operational costs decrease and revenues from recovered raw materials increase. This results in a greatly improved cost structure and a robust improvement in business profitability.

Compost

Efficient compost screening despite high moisture content.

Quality
To produce high-quality compost, it is essential that it is free of contaminants such as metals, plastics, paper, wood and other non-organic materials. Senro’s advanced separation technologies, including screening steps, windshifters, compost shifters and rock conveyors, are crucial in achieving this goal. This equipment plays a key role in purifying the compost mass, effectively removing unwanted materials.

Process
At Senro, we specialise in compost screening, a process made complex by the inherent moisture content of organic material. Our techniques have been specially developed to meet this challenge and deliver consistent results.

Metal

Metals are extremely valuable components in various waste streams due to their high recoverability rate.

At Senro, we develop sorting lines that not only efficiently separate metals, but also specialise in recognising and homogenising difficult-to-detect alloys and composite products.

Precision and Complexity
The technological challenge in metal recycling lies mainly in the precision required to identify and separate these complex materials. Senro’s systems are equipped with advanced detection technologies that can distinguish even the differences between metals and their alloys. This enables us to deliver a purer output, which is essential for the quality and value of the recovered metals.

Metals in incineration ash
In addition, we have developed a pioneering system for recovering metals from incineration ash. This methodology enables the separation of both Ferrous and non-Ferrous metals from ash residues with an efficiency of 99.5%.

Plastic

Renewed value in 3 steps.

Sorting
The plastics industry covers a wide range of applications and products, including the sorting of mono streams from mixed input streams, such as HDPE/PP and PET processing, and the sorting of HDPE films. We can apply both mechanical sorting and sorting based on physical properties between water and the plastics. These techniques enable us to efficiently separate different types of plastics, which is essential for further recycling processes.

Washing
After sorting the plastics, it is often necessary to reduce contamination, which is crucial for the quality of the recycled material. Senro has designed an advanced washing plant that can treat both plastic films and rigid plastics. This plant not only improves the quality and value of the recycled plastics, but also significantly reduces the presence of contaminants.

Granulate
Granulation is and crucial step in the plastics recycling process, where cleaned plastic material is converted into pellets/flakes that can serve as raw material for new products. Senro has the expertise and equipment to support this stage of the recycling process.

Moreover, Senro offers complete water treatment solutions necessary for both water separation and washing processes, ensuring a sustainable and environmentally friendly recycling operation.

Paper and Cardboard

Paper and cardboard from various waste streams.

At Senro, we have the technology and expertise to sort paper and cardboard efficiently from various waste streams. This sorting enables effective recycling of these materials.

Transport and Storage
In addition to sorting, Senro also offers solutions for the storage and transport of paper and cardboard. By using balers, we can significantly reduce the volume of paper and cardboard, leading to more efficient and compact transport. This not only saves on transport costs, but also helps reduce the ecological footprint of the recycling process.

Biomass

Meet strict quality criteria for different types of biomass.

Sorting and Purification
Sorting lines must efficiently remove metals such as ferrous and non-ferrous and other contaminants such as nitrous oxide cylinders, batteries and combustible materials. These contaminants can cause serious disruptions in incineration or digestion processes and must be carefully filtered out.

Sizing and Processing
The correct sizing of biomass is crucial for efficient feeding to the biomass plant. Senro implements techniques such as screening and size reduction to ensure the material is the right size for optimal processing. Whether it is manure and sugar beet for fermentation plants or wood and screen overflow for incineration plants, our technologies ensure accurate and efficient handling of feed material.

Applications
Senro develops sorting plants specifically adapted to the needs of different biomass processing facilities.

Fluff-RDF

Development of Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF)

After sorting various waste streams, a residue product sometimes remains that cannot be converted into a new raw material. However, this product, if it meets certain conditions, can be used as refuse-derived fuel (RDF) for power plants and various industrial processes. Senro plays a crucial role in optimising this material for safe and efficient use as fuel.

Environmental benefits of RDF
The use of RDF offers significant environmental benefits. First, it helps reduce the amount of waste going to landfills. Second, it reduces dependence on fossil fuels, leading to lower greenhouse gas emissions and reducing our carbon footprint.

Technologies for Optimisation
Senro implements advanced techniques such as NIR (near infrared) separators to bring the chloride content in RDF within safe standards. This is essential to increase combustion efficiency and prevent environmental pollution. In addition, Senro offers the ability to measure the chloride content and calorific value of RDF. This enables us to classify RDF stream into high and low calorific material, allowing customers to optimise their energy production and better comply with environmental regulations.
